J.S. Cooper Guitars

“Jeremy strives to give each of his guitars the easiest playability possible including super smooth tuning. He prefers the traditional woody sound of a Spanish guitar and tries to embrace this sound, but with more volume, clarity and balance. This is why he builds with fan bracing patterns and why in his lattice bracing, he uses solid spruce braces with a solid top of traditional thickness, in stead of graphite reinforced balsa wood braces and almost paper thin tops that other lattice top builders use.”

MY PHILOSOPHY as a builder is that if you want to make consistently good sounding guitars, you need consistency in your building process. Experimentation is good and lets the instrument evolve. However, a change may work in some ways but have negative effects in other ways. The only way to truly know if a specific change is for the better or the worse, is to make only that one change, and evaluate the results. If the result is negative, you will know to go back to the way you did it before. In 2006 I will start giving back to the Earth by planting a tree for each guitar that I build. I am also researching ways to make guitar building more environmentally friendly.
